What We Believe

Statement of Faith:

As you experience Glen Haven Baptist Church, you will discover our commitment to living the Word of God (James 1:22). Everything we do is based on scripture because we believe the Bible is the true Word of God. The following will help you to know what we believe about major doctrinal issues. We are here to serve Christ by serving you.

About God

God is eternal, holy, the creator of everything, and wants to know us personally. God exists in 3 persons: Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

About Jesus Christ

Jesus was virgin born, lived a sinless life, died as a sacrifice for us on the cross, and rose from the dead 3 days later. He was and is fully God.

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit indwells every person who puts their faith in Jesus Christ as their savior. He lives in us to convict us of sin, lead us as we seek to follow God’s will for our lives, and to help us share God’s love with this world.

About the Bible

The Bible is the divinely inspired and inerrant Word of God. The Bible forms the basis for everything we do at Glen Haven.

About Human Beings

Every human life is of infinite value and worth. However, we are born with a sinful nature we cannot fix on our own. We have only one hope to eliminate this sinful nature and gain a relationship with God – that hope is Jesus.

About Salvation

Forgiveness for our sin (salvation) comes ONLY through faith in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for us. Good deeds, being a church member, or trying to be a great person are not enough.

About Baptism and Communion

The two ordinances of the church – baptism and communion – are not necessary for salvation, but are matters of obedience. We schedule baptism regularly throughout the year, and we take communion as a congregation 4 times each year.

About Eternal Security

Anyone who has asked Jesus Christ to save them through faith in His sacrifice for them, is eternally secure in Him. We could not earn our salvation so we likewise cannot undo our salvation.

Eternity

There are two real places people will spend eternity – heaven or hell. God’s plan, through faith in Jesus, is for anyone to spend eternity with Him in heaven. Those who reject His plan will spend eternity separated from Him in hell.
